ChatGPT Dots, Meta Muse and Anthropic's new Claude Duet are always-on agents built around one person's accounts and goals, while Runbear is a shared agent that a whole team can @-mention in Slack or Microsoft Teams. Pick Dots, Muse or Duet to clear your own queue, and pick Runbear when the requests come from colleagues in a channel.

Dots and Muse prices and plans were checked on October 7, 2026, and Claude Duet details on October 22, 2026, the day after its research preview opened. All three are new and change fast, so check the vendor pages before you buy.

Meta Muse alternatives inside Slack and Microsoft Teams

For a Meta Muse alternative that works inside Slack or Microsoft Teams, Runbear gives a team a shared agent that teammates @mention in the channel. Meta calls Muse a personal AI agent that completes tasks on your behalf. Its Slack Marketplace app lists "Perform actions as you," so in Slack it acts for its owner. If your company is on ChatGPT Business, Edu or Enterprise, an admin can set up OpenAI's @ChatGPT as another shared assistant in both apps.

• @ChatGPT runs through its own service account with the company tools the admin connects. For some requests it asks to use apps connected to your own account. In Slack it does not answer single-channel or multi-channel guests, and OpenAI does not support it in Slack Connect channels.
• In an Enterprise workspace, ChatGPT Dots stay off until an admin turns on the "Use dots (Beta)" setting. A separate setting lets a member's Dot join Slack or Teams and post under its own identity, where available. OpenAI has also previewed specialist dots for dedicated responsibilities, each set up by the company with its own identity, starting with focused enterprise pilots.
• Muse for Small Business is a set of skills and connectors Meta added to Muse for business owners. It connects tools such as Slack, Notion, Shopify and Intuit QuickBooks, plus Facebook and Instagram business accounts, and Meta says nothing publishes, sends or spends without your approval. Meta's announcement describes Muse working for its owner and does not describe a Muse that a team shares.

Where ChatGPT Dots is stronger

Dots is built to do work on its own. OpenAI says each Dot gets its own cloud computer and a web browser, and The Verge reports it can reach more than 4,000 apps. It runs on GPT-6 Astra, and you can talk to it by text or hop on a voice call from ChatGPT.

Dots also reaches into team tools. Wired reports that you can message a Dot through ChatGPT, Slack and Microsoft Teams, with your context shared across them. In a channel, though, a Dot still works for one person: OpenAI says only a Dot's owner can direct it, and other people's messages or mentions do not start work for it. Channel members can see what it posts. For a shared assistant in a channel, OpenAI offers the separate @ChatGPT covered above.

The limits are about access. Dots is rolling out to ChatGPT Pro, Business Premium and Enterprise users, and Enterprise starts as an admin-enabled beta. Each account starts with one Dot. OpenAI says Pro access excludes the EEA, Switzerland and the UK, and that plans include extended limits for the first month after launch, without saying what follows.

Where Meta Muse is stronger

Muse is the easiest of the three personal agents to start with. It has a free tier, and MindStudio notes that you can read and edit its memory and "soul" files. The Verge reports that Muse topped the App Store charts soon after release and has an estimated 600,000 daily active users in the US.

Zapier describes Muse as running on its own virtual machine per user, with a separate monitoring agent on the same machine. It pays through Link by Stripe, so merchants do not see your card details. Zapier says its connector will let Muse act across 9,000+ apps as Meta rolls it out, and you decide which apps and actions it may use.

The limits: Muse is available in the US and Canada. Meta lists Slack as a connector Muse can use, but it does not describe Muse as an agent your team can @-mention in a Slack or Teams channel, and Microsoft Teams is not on its connector list. You talk to Muse in its app or in WhatsApp. The Verge also reports that one user said Muse gave their address to a buyer on Facebook Marketplace, so check what you let it do before you connect work accounts.

Where Claude Duet fits

Claude Duet is Anthropic's newest entry, opened as a research preview on October 21, 2026. Anthropic calls it a proactive agent that briefs you every morning, drafts next steps, then goes quiet until something needs you. It runs on Opus 5.5 on its own cloud computer, uses the memory, skills and connectors already in your Claude account, and checks your connected accounts every few hours.

Access is narrow for now. Duet is waitlist-only for Claude Pro and Max subscribers in the US, in its own iOS and Android app and on claude.ai, separate from the main Claude app. It has no separate price: it uses your plan's usage limits, and its background checks count toward them. Anthropic says Team and Enterprise plans are not included yet.

Slack is one of the connectors Duet can use, for example to find Slack messages you missed and help you reply. Anthropic does not describe a Duet that colleagues can @-mention in a channel, and Microsoft Teams is not named. Duet asks before sensitive actions such as sending messages or paying, and Anthropic notes it may misread a thread or miscalibrate what is urgent.

Where Runbear is stronger

Runbear is built for the second question teams hit after "which model": who is allowed to ask, and whose permissions apply. An agent such as @HR or @SalesOps lives in the channel and the thread is its context. The whole team talks to the same agent, and when it calls a tool connected per user, such as Salesforce or GitHub, it uses the asking person's own account rather than a shared service account. Documents indexed into an agent's knowledge base are the exception: everyone who can use that agent can get answers from them.

Plans come with a monthly allowance of credits, and the credits a task uses depend on how complex it is and which model runs it. You choose Claude, GPT or Gemini per agent. Business adds bring-your-own model key and SAML/SSO.

Runbear is not trying to be your personal assistant. It does not run its own browser, and it acts through 2,000+ tools, fewer than the 4,000+ apps Dots lists. Dots and Muse are also built for errands such as ordering dinner, which Runbear's pages do not describe.

When to choose Runbear, and when not to

Choose Runbear when:

• Several people send requests to the same agent in Slack or Microsoft Teams.
• Tool calls must run with each person's own access to your CRM, GitHub or ticketing system.
• You want admin controls such as SAML/SSO.

Choose Dots, Muse or Duet instead when:

• The queue you want cleared is your own, such as your calendar, inbox and research.
• You need an agent that works on its own cloud computer and browser, or that takes voice calls.
• You are already on a ChatGPT plan that includes Dots, or you want a free tier to try Muse.
• You already pay for Claude Pro or Max in the US and want a morning brief across your own connected apps (Duet, by waitlist).
