AI agent platform pricing for Slack: per seat or based on usage (2026)

How AI agent platforms for Slack bill in 2026: pricing per seat vs based on usage, prices checked October 16, and a 20-person bill at two credit rates.

Short answer: yes. A few AI agent platforms for Slack bill based on usage instead of per seat. Runbear's pricing page lists usage credits rather than seat fees for its AI agents in Slack and Microsoft Teams, with a Team plan at $99 per month for 20,000 credits and a Business plan at $399 per month for 100,000 credits. Its billing docs also list interactors, the people who talk to the agents each month, as a second billing measure.

Other usage-based options work differently. Viktor's Team plan starts at $50 per month for 20,000 shared workspace credits, Plug & AI bills AI usage from one prepaid workspace balance, and n8n bills by workflow executions. Six of the nine other AI tools we checked set their pricing per seat, from $5 to $100 per person per month (yearly prices where offered), or €120 for a Dust Max seat. A per-seat bill grows with headcount. A usage-based bill grows with how much the agents do, so the 20-person example below shows it at both of Runbear's published credit estimates.

We checked every price on the vendor's own pricing page on October 16, 2026, at list price without promotions. Links are in the Sources section.

Builders are the team members who create and manage agents in the Runbear dashboard. Interactors are the people who talk to your agents, each counted once per billing month.

Lindy's pricing page has shown two starting prices, $29.99 for 3,000 credits and $49.99 for 5,000, so we show both.

Each vendor meters credits its own way, so a credit count at one vendor says little about another. Compare the billing units instead.

Seat prices for Slack, ChatGPT and Claude buy a whole product, and an agent is one part of it. Use the table to see how each bill grows. It does not rank the products.

Worked example: a 20-person Slack team

Take a hypothetical team of 20. Each person asks an agent 4 quick questions per workday, 21 workdays a month, for 1,680 questions. The agents also run 150 small workflows a month, such as a CRM lookup or opening a ticket from a thread.

Per-seat bill (annual billing where offered, list price):

  • Slack Business+ (whole product): 20 × $15 = $300 per month
  • ChatGPT Business Standard (whole product): 20 × $20 = $400 per month
  • Claude Team Standard (whole product): 20 × $20 = $400 per month
  • Dust Pro: 20 × €24 = €480 per month, excluding VAT
  • Lindy: 20 × $29.99 = $599.80 per month, or 20 × $49.99 = $999.80 at the higher starting price
  • Question Base: 20 × $5 = $100 per month, but the plan starts at $6,000 per year, so $500 per month at this team size

Each new user adds a seat.

Usage bill (Runbear, monthly billing), an estimate at two rates:

Runbear publishes two different estimates for the same kind of work, and the bill depends on which one you use.

  • Pricing page (about 5 credits per quick answer, 20 to 50 per workflow): 1,680 answers come to about 8,400 credits, and 150 workflows to 3,000 to 7,500. The total of about 11,400 to 15,900 credits fits inside the Team plan's 20,000 credits, so about $99 per month.
  • Billing docs (10 to 20 credits per answer from knowledge, 30 to 50 or more per task with several tool calls): the same 1,680 answers come to 16,800 to 33,600 credits, and the 150 workflows to at least 4,500 to 7,500. The total of at least 21,300 to 41,100 credits is above the Team plan's 20,000. You would need the Business plan at $399 per month, or Team plus pay-as-you-go credits.

Treat both lines as estimates and check real usage after the first month. This bill comes on top of your Slack or Microsoft Teams plan.

Usage bill (n8n, an estimate): one turn with an n8n agent is one execution, so the same month is about 1,680 to 1,830 executions, depending on whether the workflows run as their own turns. That fits inside the Starter plan's 2,500 executions (€20 per month billed yearly). Model use comes from your own model credentials or n8n's credits. We do not model Viktor or Plug & AI: Viktor's workspace credits do not map to the per-task estimates above, and Plug & AI's bill depends on the model's own rates.

If Runbear credits run out, agents pause until an admin turns on pay-as-you-go, which buys extra credits at the same rate, or upgrades the plan.

When a seat plan can cost less

A seat price stays fixed however much each person uses it, so a team that wants a predictable bill may prefer it. Slack, ChatGPT and Claude seats also buy the whole app, which matters if your team uses those apps all day. Usage bills rise with heavy work. Runbear prices deep work, such as a multi-page research report, at 300 to 1,500 credits. If each of 20 people ran one such task every workday for 21 days, that would be 126,000 to 630,000 credits a month, well past the Business plan's 100,000.

What changes the bill

  • Model choice. On usage plans, a larger model raises the cost of every task. Runbear, for example, lets you pick Claude, GPT or Gemini for each agent and charges credits at that model's rate.
  • Task size. A quick answer costs a few credits, and a long research task costs hundreds.
  • Who counts as a user. Slack bills members who are active in a 28-day period. Lindy bills anyone who uses it, including Slack @mentions. Runbear's pricing page says it charges by usage, not by seat, and caps the number of builders per plan. Its billing docs list interactors as a second billing measure.
  • Billing period. Slack, ChatGPT, Claude and Dust list lower prices for annual billing. Runbear takes 20% off for yearly billing.

FAQ

Which tools avoid per-seat fees? Viktor and Plug & AI bill shared workspace credits or balances with no per-seat licenses, n8n bills workflow executions with unlimited users, and Runbear's pricing page lists usage credits, with interactors added in its billing docs.

Is Runbear priced per seat? Runbear's pricing page says it charges by usage, not by seat. Its billing docs name two billing measures: credits, and interactors, meaning each person who talks to an agent during a billing month. Team includes 5 builders and Business includes 10.

Does Slack AI cost extra? Slack lists basic AI on Free and Pro and advanced AI on Business+, with no separate AI add-on on its pricing page. Slackbot is included on Business+ and Enterprise+, and Free and Pro get it only during a trial or preview.

Do unused credits roll over? On Runbear, Dust and Lindy, monthly plan credits reset each billing period. Viktor's Team plan rolls unused monthly credits over to the next month.

How do I estimate a usage bill before I buy? Count questions and workflows per month, multiply by the vendor's published credit range, and run a pilot with real questions for a few weeks before you commit. For how Slack's own AI compares with a shared agent, see Slack AI vs Runbear.
