How to add a Runbear bot to Discord

  1. 1

    Create a Classic agent

    In Agents, select Create Agent, expand Other runtimes, and choose Classic. Agents on the default Claude Agent SDK runtime don't offer the Discord tile.

    Authorize the bot

    On the agent's Chatbots tab, click Discord and authorize the Runbear bot to join your Discord server.

    Pick the channels

    Select the server and channels where the bot should be active, then finish setup in the Runbear dashboard. Members mention the bot by name to start a conversation.

Discord bot FAQ

Not on the default runtime. Agents on the Claude Agent SDK runtime, the usual default, deploy to Slack and Microsoft Teams only. Discord connections are available to agents on the other runtimes, such as Classic, which you choose under Other runtimes when you create the agent.

It always answers @mentions and direct messages. To keep it answering in a thread without another mention, turn on Continue in threads (every reply) on the connection's Trigger tab.

Classic agents have no model setting; Runbear picks the model. Anthropic agents, which offer Claude models, and OpenAI Responses agents, which offer GPT models, can also deploy to Discord.

Discord is included on the Team plan and above. On the Free plan, agents deploy to Slack and Microsoft Teams.

Delete the Discord connection from the agent's Chatbots tab. To remove the bot from the server entirely, kick it in your Discord server settings.
